Sleep apnea

It’s a sleep disorder in which a person during his sleep, stops breathing, for a while, duration may exceed from few seconds to minutes, and this means the persons brain and other body parts are not getting oxygen well. And if brain doesn’t get oxygen for the right time, there is a great chance of stroke that could be fatal.

How to diagnose this problem

You may have these symptoms

  • large gaps during breath in sleep
  • snoring
  • insomnia
  • morning fatigue
  • more urination during sleep


This could be due to blockage in air passageway

And may be due to high cholesterol in blood or due to fats that deposit in air passage in throat.

Large neck size, overweight or it may be sometimes due to genetic disorder

Effects of sleep apnea

1: high blood pressure


3: heart failure, irregular heart beatings, and sudden heart attacks

4: depression

4: diabetes

5: disturbance in ADHD ( loss of concentration and focusing on something important )



How to treat this?

  • Losing weight.
  • Avoiding alcohol and sleeping pills.
  • Changing sleep positions to improve breathing.
  • Stopping smoking. it can increase the swelling in the upper airway, which may worsen both snoring and apnea.
  • Avoiding sleeping on your back.
